Lorraine was born to an Italian-American father, and British mother on Oct. 2nd, 1954 in Brooklyn. She was voted the “ugliest girl” in her 6th grade class, but wowed everyone by becoming a Wilhelmina model. For 10 years she modeled fashion in Paris, including Jean Paul Gaultier. She branched into acting appearing in movies and a TV show, she is fluent in French from her time there. In 1979 she gave birth to her daughter Margaux, and eventually returned to the U.S. Lorraine’s roles in Someone to Watch Over Me, & Goodfellas made her a household name the latter earning her an Oscar nod. After this she appeared in various made-for-tv movies before being offered the role of Carmela Soprano for The Sopranos. However she turned down the role because she had already played the mafia wife perfectly, she wanted to play Dr. Melfi. Her role for 6 seasons earned her recognition both from the psychiatric community as well as Emmy nominations. After the series ended she returned to TV for guest roles until she portrayed Angela Rizzoli on Rizzoli & Isles. She has authored 2 books: On The Couch which details her battle with depression, and To The Fullest. She has a younger daughter born in 1985 named, Stella as well as granddaughter.
